      The Asian Association of Women’s Studies (AAWS) is a forum for discussion and co-operation on new ideas in feminist education and research with a focus on Asia and to promote the dissemination of information on relevant community programs. The AAWS seeks to establish an institutional basis for feminist education and research on Asia, linking associations of women’s studies, research institutions, resource centers, as well as individual scholars and practitioners in the region, with the intent of addressing issues of common interest in Asia.

      The Faculty of Management and Development Studies (FMDS) is one of the three faculties of studies of the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU). It was established in 2004 when the then Faculties of Health Sciences and of Management Studies, both established in 1995, were merged.

      As a collective of various disciplines spanning from the health to the environment to management and to the development fields, it deals with policy, program and development concerns related to environment and natural resources management, land valuation, research and development, nursing, international health, social work and public management. These thematic areas have become the teaching, research, extension and public service areas of the FMDS over time.

      FMDS adheres to the highest standards of academic excellence, service, and social responsibility.

      The Office of Gender Concerns (OGC) function, among other matters, to create and sharpen awareness of women and gender-related issues; advocacy programs on gender and for gender equality; vitalize Women's and Gender Studies multi- and interdisciplinary programs; initiate the integration of gender concepts into academic curricula; and promote incentives for the recognition of the achievements and contributions of women and other marginalized sectors to national development and gender consciousness.
